Our recent exhibition in Hong Kong's SOTA Gallery.

This series of abstracts of heritage listed buildings on both sides of the equator. This new series creates dialogue about the heritage of two cities on opposite sides of the globe struggling with the same challenging problem of holding onto our heritage listed buildings. Most concerning to me as an artist is that while many people value the structures which built our societies, others demand to tear them down in order to maximize a financial return on that piece of land. We must protect these structure for future generations, they hold great value in creating interest in our cultures and history. Much like the Pyramids or Parthenon, people travel great distances to see these rare sights which will slowly disappear if we don't continue to place importance on them. When government struggles with population growth, the temptation to allow developers permission to remove these memories from our landscape is significant. We must appreciate these icons of our culture, their textures, the stories behind them and embrace what they can mean to us today and in the future.

From the creative point of view the buildings stand almost as opposing structures, or reflections. Portraying the similarities between cultures whilst separated by a virtual equator through the center of each piece. It gives the viewer the opportunity to consider how these structures in Hong Kong and Brisbane share so many things in common but are so dramatically far apart. Human nature often is a journey of finding people just like us, no matter where we are on earth. We are drawn together by how we look, talk, think and feel. And so on these canvas artworks, I am drawing together how our cultures can be drawn together, and how enjoying this art with each other, we are drawn together even though we can be so very different.

The objective of my art, is to remove the symbolic walls around us. In turn, the walls we live with every day are there to protect us from the elements and hold up the roof that covers us, but when we hang artworks, we don't see the walls anymore, we see the art and the message within.

We hope you enjoy a tour around the site, the DIX style is very earthy, stressed & weathered, if there is something you wish for, feel free to ask for it. Browse our gallery and be enchanted today.

This Fall (October) 2010 we have 4 works on exhibitions at the BlueDot exhibition in Seoul.
BlueDot refers to a blue sticker put on a gallery wall to show an art work is sold. The first BlueDot ASIA in 2008, bolstered by heated interests and the largest
number of visitors to an art fair, has established itself as a blockbuster exhibition, attracting more than 5,000 visitors a day on average during the week to
Seoul Arts Center, the biggest exhibition hall in Korea. BlueDot ASIA, a mixture of biannual and art fair, is Korea’s first art fair equipped with both artistic
quality and commerciality. At 2009 BlueDot ASIA, due in June 20 to 25, around 80 artists from Asia will participate in to represent
Asian arts and to display its possibilities through a variety of arts works, including paintings, photographs, and installation works,
causing sensation in the Korean art community.

An important distinction to make with the DIX style is that it is heavily textured. This feature does not always translate with simple photography. It is not uncommon for someone appreciating this artists work to feel an uncontrollable urge to touch the work.

For the true art enthusiast it is reassuring to know that this art will change throughout the day with the moods of light in your home or office. With some extra effort the lighting for DIX art could be arranged to change when you want it to. We always encourage people to specifically light art when it is hung. But in the case of DIX art, you can participate in the
lighting using various light sources to change the drama of the piece.

Buy a little DIX - our popular MINIMONTAGE pieces are ideal for gifts, tight budgets or the obsessed collector! See more here.
